Overview

The Comhairle are preparing a Gaelic Language Plan for 2018-2022 for the Western Isles, in terms of the Gaelic Language (Scotland) Act 2005. This Plan makes clear how the Comhairle will promote and increase the use and learning of Gaelic, both within the organisation itself, and in the communities of the Isles. This Draft Plan, which received the approval of the Comhairle’s Gaelic Committee, is now being sent out for a six-week period of public consultation.
